This is one of my ALL TIME favorite books to read out loud. Jane Yolen's piratey language, alliteration, and rhythmic poetry is so amazingly fun. . . and haunting!"And silver the coins, and silver the moon,

The fantastic illustrations by David Shannon are equally captivating. There's definitely nothing girly about The Ballad of the Pirate Queens (based on a true story). It's a perfectly piratey Halloween treat!
