This just might be my favorite picture book of all time. (not just this week). I seriously cry whenever I read it (and I never cry). It's the perfect symphony of words, artistry, and inspiration. My kids are fascinated by the detailed illustrations (some of the best I've seen) and touched by the story of the sad king who finds happiness through giving. The Quiltmaker's Gift by Jeff Brumbeau is quilted with beauty and meaning - a stunning masterpiece. I can't think of a better book to begin the holidays.
